The Bible..."Do Idols Exist Today?"

When we think of scriptures, we think of the ten commandments and" Thou shalt  have no other gods before Me." The Old Testament talks about how Moses spent alot of time worshipping The LORD in Mount Sinai, and while he was up in that mountain, God gave to Moses rules for the Children of Israel to follow. One of the group of protective rules was:" Thou Shalt Have No Other gods before me." At that time, Aaron Moses brother was being taunted by the Children and their families to make something to worship since Moses was up in the mountain worshipping God and getting the Rules To Live By.

Aaron gave in to their taunting and they made a golden calf and worshipped it instead of the true and Living God. You and I as Believers understand that  we are'nt supposed to have any idols  in our lives but so often we do. You might say:" Denise, what do you mean by that?" Anything that comes before the Lord is an idol! For instance, God recently convicted me about my weight and what I put in my body.  I did'nt realize that food had become an idol for me. The Bible says in Romans 12:1-2-" What! Know you not that your body is the Temple of The Holy Spirit WHO DWELLS IN YOU? And you are bought WITH A PRICE!" It goes on to say that we are to Glorify God in our bodies, and we are not to be Conformed to this world's way of thinking ( making our idol worship) but for me as a christian to be TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of my mind!  I had to prove myself to be a perfect and acceptable to the Will of God, and once I did, God gor hold of my heart, and I gave over that idol of my body to HIM,  to make it what would glorify Him. I started eating right, and excercising and losing weight and I'm happy.



Maybe  food is not your idol, maybe its  something else.  Just know ,  that Jesus can give you the victory, and that He can make Himself so real to you and bring you Joy and peace like you've never known before.  Know that He loves you. God is a jealous God. He created you, and He loves you and He wants to be first in your life because The Bible says  that He will give you peace that passes all understanding. If its smoking, give it to Him, if its drinking, give it to Him, even if its gluttony like mine was, give it to Him. Porn, too much tv, whatever comes between you and The Lord , just say: " Jesus, I want you in my life! I love you Lord, and I take you as my Lord in these areas and ask you to  take away these things that stand in my way to you. I love you Lord and I want you to forgive me  and help me to have no other gods before me but you. I thank you for what you are going to do through me from this day forward. In Jesus most Holy and Awesome Name I say, Amen and Amen.

If you have never received Jesus as your Savior , you won't get the victory over these things because you don't have the power without Him. Just say:" Jesus, I take you into my heart, and I ask you to forgive me of my sins and become the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank you for dying on the cross for me and I help me to always live for you. I love you Lord! Thank you for your free gift of salvation and for rising from the dead for me. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name! Amen!
